Hallmarked by The Goldsmiths Company in the London Assay Office, where hallmarking precious metals began over 700 years ago. The iconic leopard's head, the mark for London, can be seen on the reverse of each brick. This mark continues to be internationally recognised as the stamp of approval and guarantee of quality from the renowned home of hallmarking.

    • Hallmark Details

Brick Sixty’s hallmarked sterling silver confirms the quality and authenticity of precious metal bricks made in London. Hallmark descriptions from left to right…

Sponsor's mark - (BRICK): The sponsor’s (or maker's) mark identifies the person / company responsible for producing the product. Every one is unique. A minimum of two, and maximum of five initials must be included…we had to go for five!

Traditional fineness mark – (Lion Passant): The traditional fineness symbol for sterling silver is the lion passant. The term "passant" means the lion's right front paw is raised while the other three are on the ground. An optional, but beautiful mark.

Millesimal fineness mark – (925): This compulsory mark tells us how fine the metal is, as well as indicating the type. Showing the precious metal content expressed in parts per thousand, guaranteeing the purity of the sterling silver.

Assay Office mark – (Leopard Head): This tells you which Assay Office tested and hallmarked the article. The historic image of the leopard’s head, the town mark for London, and the mark of the Goldsmiths’ Company Assay Office, continues to be internationally recognised as the stamp of approval and guarantee of quality from the home of hallmarking. The leopard's head mark of London has been used by some of the finest craftsmen in history, on some of the most prestigious and celebrated works.

Date letter mark - (Varies each year): This mark establishes the product production year, with the letter changing annually on January 1st. The font, case and shield shape all change so each can only indicate one specific year. It’s impressive that the Assay Office actually destroy all date punches at the end of the year! This is a non-compulsory mark but important for us, as only a certain number of sterling silver bricks will be made each year and this will enable future identification.
